Our Senior Pastors

PsJPastor Jimmy Crompton

Having been in ministry for 48 years, Pastor Jimmy Crompton, also known as James Richard Crompton, is the senior pastor and visionary of Word of Faith Christian Centre. Born and raised in Cape Town, Pastor Jimmy had an encounter with the Lord when he was baptised in the Holy Spirit at 18 years old – though he had invited Jesus into his heart long before.

His vision for Word of Faith Christian Centre and heart for the ministry can be summarised by one scripture:

“The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others.” Genesis 12:1-2 (NLT)

Pastor Jimmy is the father of one son, Richard, who is married to Heather. Richard and Heather have three sons, of whom pastor Jimmy is a very proud grandfather.

Asked which book he would recommend to church members, Pastor Jimmy replied, “4th Dimension by Yongi-Cho.”

His favourite saying is: “Hier kom ‘n ding!” And you may not know this about him, but pastor Jimmy Crompton’s favourite hobby is watching sport.

Pastor-Mariana-EditedPastor Mariana Crompton

Saved at 15 years old when she attended a Youth for Christ rally in Cape Town’s City Hall, Pastor Mariana Crompton’s passion to better the lives of women, children and families in Port Elizabeth has led to the establishment of non-profit organisation, Project Hope and the celebrated Arise Women’s Conference.

The co-senior pastor of Word of Faith, Pastor Mariana has four things at the top of her bucket list:

• Seeing a strong, stable and envisioned new generation raised up
• Seeing Word of Faith reach a higher level than ever before
• Having a strong, healthy, active life
• And being able to go, do, and see what God opens the door for

Born in Beaufort West and raised in the Baptist church, pastor Mariana has been in ministry for 45 years. When asked about her role model(s), this is what she had to say:

“[I don’t have] one particularly, but many I have read of and met through the years, who have fearlessly and unselfishly lived lives of strength, integrity and character. They have thought way bigger than their situation and circumstances should have caused them to think, thereby succeeding where no one else would have. The life of Livingstone really impacted me.”

A wife, mother, grandmother, co-visionary and support in the building of Word of Faith, you will often hear Pastor Mariana Crompton saying,  “Above all else guard your heart, because that determines the end of your life,”  or “when you spit on me you make me wet,  I determine how I react.”

Our Vision

Genesis 12:2-3 (NLT)
I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others.
3 I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”

Galatians 3:29 (NLT)
And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you.

Our Purpose Statement

The Word of Faith family acts as a gateway that brings Jesus (the gospel) to our city, Africa and the world. We believe that God has made Port Elizabeth, South Africa a gateway to Heaven. This is the place where God can pour out His revival, blessing, glory, prosperity, victory, healing and everything we need. Our vision is to have a constant flow of His glory, power and miraculous grace from heaven to our city, so much so, that it overspills to South Africa and the African continent.

Our Mission Statement

We aim to make true believers in Jesus Christ through a system of support, encouragement, edification and Spirit-filled fellowship.

What we believe

We acknowledge God as three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

We honour God with every fibre of our being.

We love the Word and make no excuses for the manifestations of the Holy Spirit in our meetings.

We want to see your faith grow, and see you become a disciple where you have influence: at work, at school, in your community and in your home.

Why we give

We believe that when we give, we give to God. We are confident that when we give in faith, God honours our faith and rewards us. As Hebrews 12 verse 6 reads: “he is a rewarder.” God’s pattern of giving is that we give a tithe (10%) of our income “as God has blessed us” (1 Corinthians 16:2).

Our act of giving reveals the condition of our hearts towards God. “Where your treasure is, your heart is also” ( Matthew 6:21).

We give with joy, because we love Jesus and want the whole world to hear about Him. As 2 Corinthians 9 verse 7 says, “God loves a cheerful giver.”
