Ps Jimmy and Vision
The senior pastoral couple, Jimmy and Mariana Crompton, have proven their faithfulness and enthusiasm to God and His word. Being leaders with integrity, they sought the face of God for a breakthrough in the city.
G12 Vision
First, God opened their eyes to the G12 Vision. The church transitioned in February 2003 from a Jethro cell structure to the G12 Vision. This has proved to be directly from God, because the church grew by more than four hundred people of which 90% have been actively involved in cell groups since January 16, 2004, have completed the Pre-Encounter, Encounter Weekend and Post Encounter. Many members have completed School of Leaders Level 3, which is the most advanced stage in the G12 training programme, qualifying members not only to lead cells. but to raise up new leaders in turn who will establish more cells.
The G12 Vision has spread in the city and many churches in the Eastern Cape and Western Cape have sent their workers to be trained in the G12 Vision. Word of Faith has powerful Men’s, Women’s, Youth and Children's Networks, which are fed by the G12 Vision. The church also manages five children’s churches every Sunday, of which four are being run by Project Hope in very poor areas.
Gateway Vision
Second. it came to Pastor Jimmy's attention that God has a purpose for each city and that because God is interested in saving people, that purpose is redemptive. He sought out the redemptive purpose of Port Elizabeth, and God revealed to him and his staff that this is a gateway city. Many confirmations followed. There were some prophetic words given by men like Kenneth Copeland and Dutch Sheets. There are many historical events that bear this out, the Great Trek (when frontiersmen trekked into the interior from here) and the arrival of the 1820 Settlers, being two of the most outstanding. A current event is the recently constructed deep water port which has adopted the slogan, "Gateway to Africa."
He then turned his attention to Word of Faith Christian Centre to find the redemptive purpose of his church within the city. Over the years Word of Faith has been a gateway through which mighty men and women of God, such as Rodney Howard-Browne, Kim Clement, Hamilton Filmalter, Mark Beale and Jérome Nel, amongst others, have been released. Many lay people have gone through these doors and have been a blessing elsewhere. One of the marks of Word of Faith is the liberty given the Holy Spirit and the faith placed in God to bring heaven down into the people's daily situations. In Genesis 28:10–22 Jacob saw angels ascending and descending on a ladder from heaven. Taking inspiration from his statement, "This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!" Pastor Jimmy sees the purpose of Word of Faith to be a Gateway to Heaven. All activities in the church including the cells in the G12 Vision and every department are focused on being a gateway to heaven right down to each individual member who knows he or she may act as a gateway for people they contact, to get a touch from heaven.
Character
In addition to channelling the power of the Holy Spirit and the glory of God to all as described above, Word of Faith is known as a church where people are challenged, changed and encouraged to spiritual growth. The church also has strong ministries. Some are prophets such as Don Flynn, Denvar Marks and Stephen and Elise Botha who have had amazing directional words from God and are able to bring to mind past dates in order to establish what God is saying to a person in the present. Pastor James Lottering is recognised throughout South Africa for his deliverance ministry. James, a former officer in the Occult Related Crimes Unit of the South African Police Service, is truly a gift from God. Pastor Ronnie Sampson moves strongly in the gifts of healing. Ronnie holds monthly Healing Crusades where many people have received their healing.
Project Hope
Project Hope was founded in 1998. This project functions in the poorest areas of the city where more than 500 children are fed a balanced meal, parents are guided and supported to overcome their weaknesses and taught how to sustain themselves. Through the success of this project, successful church branches have been founded, one of which has bought a property to house all the people and is currently running two Sunday services, because of the growth.
Education Department
Education is not left behind. The church has an Education Department which incorporates a day care centre, Baby Heaven, Noah's Ark Pre-Primary School and Willow Academy Junior and Senior School. Willow Academy follows a fully Christian curriculum. Word of Faith Bible College has also been successful and 75% of the alumni are currently working for the Lord in a full-time capacity.
Word of Faith Christian Centre is a thriving church in The Madiba Bay, Port Elizabeth, and with God’s help will become even more effective until He comes.
